Legal Counsel

About the role

The Legal Counsel will support the Chief Legal Counsel in ensuring that CIMB Bank Philippines operates in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role involves providing timely legal advice, managing legal risks, and overseeing contract and policy reviews across the bank’s operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Legal Counsel in day‑to‑day legal department operations.
• Draft and deliver accurate, timely legal advice and opinions.
• Develop defence strategies and provide input to senior management.
• Review, implement, and monitor internal governance policies for compliance.
• Research and evaluate legal risk factors related to business decisions.
• Apply risk‑management techniques and offer proactive legal guidance.
• Communicate and negotiate with regulators, external counsel, and public authorities.
• Draft, review, and finalise agreements, contracts, and other legal documents.
• Handle complex matters involving multiple stakeholders.
• Clarify legal language and specifications for internal teams.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of legislative changes.

Required profile

• Demonstrated integrity and responsibility in professional conduct.
• Strong ability to stay current with changes in legislation.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills with external parties.
