VMware Administrator

About the role

The VMware Administrator will ensure high availability, reliability, performance, and security of the virtual infrastructure supporting the bank's critical applications. You will work closely with application teams, VMware support, and internal stakeholders to maintain a robust vSphere environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provision, install, and configure new servers as requested by application teams.
• Deploy and manage VMware vSphere components, including vCenter, ESXi hosts, VSAN, SRM, vROps, and vReplication.
• Perform system maintenance, performance tuning, resource lifecycle management, and health checks.
• Monitor system performance, conduct risk assessments, and ensure high availability.
• Plan and execute firmware, driver, and software upgrades for the VMware stack.
• Escalate and resolve issues with VMware support and TAM teams.
• Apply patches and conduct vulnerability assessments to protect the environment.
• Implement security best practices, manage user accounts, permissions, and password policies.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation, inventory of virtual machines, and provide training.
• Support disaster recovery activities, including protection groups and recovery plans.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of VMware vCenter, ESXi, VSAN, SRM, vROps, and related hypervisor technologies.
• Experience with scripting and automation, preferably PowerCLI.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, networking, and storage concepts as they relate to virtualization.
• Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and communication skills.
