Operator I – Manufacturing

About the role

The Operator I position supports daily production at Microchip Technology, ensuring smooth operation of manufacturing processes and adherence to quality standards. This entry‑level role is ideal for candidates who enjoy hands‑on work in a fast‑paced, technology‑driven environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform 6S activities before and after each shift, either manually or semi‑automatically.
• Monitor processes using visual checks, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and sampling tests according to specifications.
• Enter and verify production data in computer systems, tracking lot quantities and categorising rejected parts.
• Make decisions based on existing specifications and criteria.
• Identify and highlight any safety, quality, or output issues during the shift.
• Carry out additional tasks as required to maintain production flow.

Required profile

• Ability to multitask while maintaining careful attention to detail.
• Proven success working both independently and within a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Capability to follow written and verbal instructions and detailed work specifications.
• Excellent listening skills and adaptability to frequent changes.
• Regular and predictable attendance; must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or GED.

Required skills

• Basic computer proficiency.
• Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
• Familiarity with 6S workplace organization.
