Second Cook – Container Vessel

About the role

Maersk Filipinas Crewing Inc. is seeking a competent Second Cook to join the galley team on its technically advanced container vessels. The role offers the chance to work on one of the world’s largest shipping companies, with a focus on safety, diversity and professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness in the galley department.
• Operate catering equipment safely and efficiently.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 months experience as Second Cook or Messman on foreign‑going ships of relevant size/type.
• Working knowledge of spoken English.
• Experience with International cuisine, specifically European foods.
• Handling of provisions, purchasing, accounting and administration.
• Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and emergency procedures (fire, abandon ship, man overboard, oil spill).
• Awareness of safety meetings, reporting near‑misses, incidents and accidents.

Required skills

• International cuisine preparation (European focus).
• Provision handling and inventory management.
• Purchasing and basic accounting for galley supplies.
• Use of Personal Protective Equipment.
• Implementation of emergency and safety procedures.
