National Migration Health Informatics Officer

About the role

The National Migration Health Informatics Officer leads the Software Solutions Team within the Migration Health Informatics (MHI) Unit, providing expert guidance on health information systems and ensuring high‑quality software delivery for migration health programs.

Key responsibilities

• Manage activities and services of the Software Solutions Team, including domain expert review, business analysis, and software quality verification.
• Oversee data management, training, and user support for health information systems.
• Act as business lead on medical information system projects and represent IOM as the MHI subject‑matter expert in technical discussions with external partners.
• Develop and deliver training courses (face‑to‑face, remote, e‑learning) on health information systems.
• Produce clear technical documentation for non‑technical audiences.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Health Sciences, Social Science, Information Systems, Management or related field with at least five years of relevant experience, or a university degree with seven years of experience.
• Proven experience with electronic health records, healthcare software development, and implementation.
• Strong understanding of medical, public health and statistical terminology and ability to bridge health and IT needs.
• Experience in health information systems project management and team supervision; PRINCE2 certification is an advantage.

Required skills

• Strong analytical abilities to translate health information needs into operational requirements.
• Excellent technical writing, editing, and documentation skills.
• Proficiency with MS SQL, Visual Studio, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Project, FrontPage, and Adobe Acrobat.
