Deputy Director, People Operations

About the role

YLabs is looking for a senior leader to head its global People Operations function. Reporting to the senior leadership team, you will set the strategic direction for attracting, leveling, compensating and retaining a geographically dispersed workforce as the organization expands across Africa and Asia.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a global pay‑equity system and salary bands based on regional and national benchmarks.
• Redesign the leveling and performance‑management framework to support a distributed team.
• Build hiring, onboarding and compliance infrastructure for Pan‑African and Asian expansion.
• Partner with the senior leadership team to align people strategy with overall organizational goals.
• Establish and maintain compliance structures and HR policies across multiple jurisdictions.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience leading global HR or People Operations functions.
• Demonstrated expertise in pay equity, compensation design, and performance management.
• Experience building HR systems and compliance processes for multi‑country operations.
• Strong ability to work remotely with culturally diverse teams.
• Preference for candidates based in Africa.
