About the role

The Assistant Cook supports the kitchen team by preparing ingredients, following recipes, and ensuring dishes are plated attractively. This entry‑level position is ideal for candidates with a passion for food service and a willingness to learn in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients such as chopping vegetables and cutting meat according to recipe specifications.
• Follow standardized recipes to produce meals with consistent taste and quality.
• Plate dishes attractively while maintaining portion control.
• Collaborate closely with chefs, kitchen staff, and front‑of‑house servers.
• Communicate any delays, issues, or special requests to supervisors promptly.
• Adhere to health, safety, and food‑hygiene regulations at all times.
• Dispose of waste properly and store food items according to safety standards.

Required profile

• 6 months to 1 year experience in a professional kitchen, cafeteria, bakery, or similar food‑service environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Basic literacy and numeracy for reading recipes and measuring ingredients.
• Familiarity with food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
• Strong time‑management and teamwork orientation.
