Senior Field Epidemiologist

About the role

The Senior Field Epidemiologist will provide technical support, manage staff, and monitor epidemiological surveillance strengthening activities for the USG Global Health Security (GHS) program’s STRIDES Activity in the Philippines. The role works closely with local ministries of health, agriculture, and environment to develop and update infectious disease detection and surveillance strategies. It also collaborates with both country and headquarters teams to evaluate program effectiveness and produce technical assessment reports.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support to relevant ministries on infectious disease detection and surveillance.
• Lead planning and implementation of activities that improve the quality and performance of epidemiology and surveillance services.
• Develop guidelines, policies, and technical inputs for country‑level epidemiology and surveillance strengthening.
• Participate in technical meetings and offer thought leadership at the country level.
• Evaluate program effectiveness, support technical aspects, and prepare assessment reports.
• Contribute to annual work planning and coordinate with STRIDES country and HQ teams.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in field epidemiology and public health surveillance.
• Proven ability to manage staff and lead technical teams.
• Experience working with government ministries and multi‑sectoral partners.
