Technical Advisor, Disease Surveillance

About the role

The Technical Advisor, Disease Surveillance will lead the implementation of epidemiology and surveillance activities for the STRIDES activity in the Philippines. This role aligns technical frameworks with national guidelines and supports cross‑sectoral efforts to detect and respond to infectious disease threats.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for country‑level epidemiology and surveillance initiatives.
• Align STRIDES tools, approaches, and activities with normative guidelines and technical standards.
• Identify partnership needs and engage qualified partners to ensure technical performance.
• Support planning, implementation, and quality improvement of surveillance activities.
• Prepare project deliverables, including annual work plans, publications, and external communications.
• Develop or revise best‑practice documents and monitor project budgets.
• Offer thought leadership and evaluate program effectiveness at the country level.
• Oversee technical aspects and produce technical assessment reports.

Required profile

• Demonstrated technical leadership in complex epidemiology and surveillance contexts.
• Strong judgment to evaluate rapidly evolving public‑health situations.
• Experience collaborating with government, civil society, academia, and private‑sector partners.
• Ability to contribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and knowledge‑sharing activities.
