Senior Commercial Structural Steel Estimator

About the role

Staff Domain Inc. is hiring a Senior Commercial Structural Steel Estimator for commercial projects, working from home. The role covers analysing, breaking down and estimating costs, preparing customised bids and keeping projects accurately costed, competitively priced and financially viable. The schedule is 7:30am to 4:30pm (AU CST) or 6:00am to 3:00pm (PH).

Key responsibilities

• Analyse project and site plans, drawings, specifications and contract documents.
• Quantify structural steel and other materials from architectural and structural drawings.
• Calculate labour, equipment and rental costs, and obtain and incorporate subcontractor quotes.
• Prepare detailed bid proposals, evaluate risks and contingencies, and negotiate scope, pricing and timelines.
• Communicate with clients, resolve concerns, provide regular updates and follow up on submitted bids.
• Review past projects to recommend cost-saving measures and help hand over project details to the delivery team.
• Revise estimates for design or scope changes, prepare weekly sales meetings and cross-check other estimators' work.
• Adhere to company HSE policies, risk assessment and quality management requirements.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a commercial structural estimator.
• Exposure to the building and construction industry.
• Experience reading and interpreting plans and working drawings.
• Contract administration experience.
• Fluent written and spoken English; customer service, attention to detail, teamwork and time management.
• Construction Industry white card.

Required skills

• High-level competency with MS Office, particularly MS Excel.
• Working knowledge of Bluebeam or similar measurement software.
