Laboratory and Diagnostics Support Officer

About the role

The Laboratory and Diagnostics Support Officer (LDSO) will support the Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) project’s Global Health Security workplan in the Philippines. Reporting to the EpiC GHS Field Operations Manager, the LDSO will provide technical and operational assistance to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) for genomic surveillance, outbreak response, and public‑health emergency activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance for the pilot implementation of HPAI genomic surveillance across national and participating laboratories.
• Review, edit, standardize, and update technical documents for a One Health Molecular Laboratory Surveillance and Response Framework for HPAI.
• Support preparatory requirements, coordinate with relevant stakeholders, and ensure readiness for implementation of pilot activities.
• Assist outbreak investigations and emergency deployments, including specimen collection, rapid diagnostic testing, safe handling and transport of specimens, and management of essential laboratory commodities.
• Collaborate closely with EpiC GHS Zoonotic Diseases, Laboratory and Diagnostics, Surveillance teams, and national/sub‑national government stakeholders.
