Gender Specialist – Climate Change & Sustainable Development

About the role

The Gender Specialist will join the Gender Equality Division within the Climate Change and Sustainable Development Department of the Asian Development Bank. Based at the Manila headquarters, the role supports the integration of gender equality and women’s empowerment across ADB operations, knowledge products, and partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance to project teams on gender mainstreaming standards, including GEN, EGM and SGE components.
• Contribute to the development and updating of Country Gender Assessments and gender‑related KPIs for sector strategies and roadmaps.
• Offer technical advice during project preparation, implementation and completion, and serve as a peer‑reviewer where needed.
• Support the design and delivery of gender‑focused technical assistance activities across assigned sectors, themes or regions.
• Lead and contribute to knowledge‑sharing events, capacity‑building activities and the production of case studies and other knowledge products.

Required profile

• Relevant academic background in gender studies, development economics, social sciences or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in gender mainstreaming within development projects or policy contexts.
• Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to produce high‑quality documentation and assessments.
• Excellent communication and coordination abilities to work with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
