Estimator – Lifting, Rigging & Structural Works

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to support our growing pipeline of lifting, rigging, structural and industrial projects for an Australian client. The role involves producing detailed cost estimates and formal quotations while ensuring technical accuracy and commercial viability.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotations for lifting/rigging, installation, shutdowns, structural steel and industrial works.
• Review CAD drawings and project documents to develop BOQs, take‑offs, labour hours and equipment selections.
• Issue approximately five high‑value quotes per week, ensuring completeness and alignment with client specifications.
• Coordinate with operations, workshop and project teams to confirm constructability, sequencing and resourcing.
• Source and evaluate supplier/sub‑contractor pricing, ensuring compliance with Australian standards.
• Maintain estimating databases, templates and pricing libraries for consistency.
• Identify project risks and opportunities, incorporating contingencies where needed.
• Support continuous improvement of tendering processes and cost models.

Required profile

• Background in Mechanical, Civil/Structural or Industrial Engineering.
• Prior experience in estimating, tendering or quoting, preferably within an Australian‑based environment.
• Familiarity with Australian codes/standards for structural, mechanical and industrial works (preferred).
• Experience producing CAD drawings for industrial, construction, rigging or structural scopes (preferred).
• Advanced Excel skills with strong formula, table and data‑validation capabilities.
• Strong analytical thinking and exceptional attention to detail.

Required skills

• AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software.
• Microsoft Excel (advanced) and broader MS Office Suite.
• Estimating/tendering tools such as BlueBeam, Planswift or similar.
• Ability to work within internal quoting workflows and document‑control systems.
