Senior Planning Engineer

About the role

The Senior Planning Engineer will lead the development, review and maintenance of project schedules across tender, consultancy and construction phases. This role ensures that schedules, progress updates and planning deliverables meet contractual and industry standards while supporting claim defence and dispute resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and update project schedules using Primavera P6 and MS Project, including multiple "what‑if" scenarios.
• Coordinate with design, construction, commercial and contract administration teams to align programmes with project objectives.
• Validate contractor and consultant programmes, recovery plans and schedule updates.
• Compile progress, productivity and performance reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Analyse productivity trends, resource utilisation and material quantities to identify improvement opportunities.
• Maintain robust schedule documentation to support claims, disputes or arbitration.
• Identify schedule risks and opportunities, providing early warnings and recommendations.
• Lead delay and disruption analysis, including forensic EOT assessments and expert planning reports.
• Mentor junior planning engineers and develop team planning capability.
• Participate in client meetings, progress reviews and dispute resolution as the planning subject‑matter expert.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related discipline.
• 5‑8 years of planning, scheduling or project controls experience, preferably in marine, coastal or infrastructure projects.
• Strong organisational and analytical skills with attention to detail.
• Good written communication for contractual correspondence and progress reports.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Exposure to FIDIC or other standard contracts and experience in delay analysis is desirable.
