Environmental Officer-Inspector (Wawa)

About the role

The Environmental Officer-Inspector will ensure compliance with environmental regulations and project ESMPs for a dam and hydropower development. The role supports the project team in maintaining environmental integrity throughout construction and operation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in implementing the Environmental and Social Management Plan (ESMP) and ensure site activities meet regulatory standards.
• Conduct regular environmental inspections at dam, tunnelling, access road, powerhouse and construction areas.
• Monitor waste management, erosion control, water quality and biodiversity protection measures.
• Document observations, issue corrective action notices and verify contractor compliance with permits.
• Maintain environmental logbooks, checklists, inspection records and prepare monitoring reports.
• Deliver environmental awareness, induction training and toolbox talks for workers.
• Coordinate with the Owner’s Engineer, contractors, HSE teams and participate in project coordination meetings.
• Support regulatory submissions, audit reports and track environmental KPIs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Civil Engineering or related field.
• DENR‑required environmental trainings (e.g., ECC compliance awareness).
• Training on Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001).
• Basic HSE or EMS certification.
• 5–7 years of experience in environmental inspection or monitoring, preferably on dams, hydropower, tunnelling or large civil works.
• Proven experience in ESMP implementation and contractor coordination.
