Engineering Head

About the role

The Engineering Head leads the engineering and facilities management operations of Union Bank of the Philippines, ensuring reliable, efficient, and continuous operation of all building systems and critical infrastructure across the bank’s sites.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee operation, maintenance, and reliability of building systems including MEPF, fire protection, BMS, elevators, generators, and chillers.
• Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
• Lead root‑cause analysis and resolution of major equipment failures and facilities incidents.
• Review and approve engineering designs, technical specifications, and method statements for facilities projects.
• Provide engineering leadership for daily facilities operations, minimizing downtime and supporting refurbishment, expansion, fit‑out, and capital improvement projects.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, building codes, environmental regulations, and occupational health and safety standards.
• Develop and maintain risk assessments, contingency plans, and disaster‑recovery support for facilities.
• Lead, mentor, and develop engineering managers, supervisors, and technical staff, defining roles, performance standards, and training plans.
• Prepare and manage OPEX and CAPEX budgets, optimizing lifecycle cost of building assets.
• Review and approve vendor quotations, contracts, and variation orders; manage outsourced service providers and ensure SLA and KPI compliance.
• Develop engineering strategies aligned with business objectives, driving energy efficiency, sustainability, and digital transformation initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in engineering or facilities management, with responsibility for large‑scale building systems.
• Strong knowledge of statutory, safety, and environmental compliance for facilities.
• Experience in budgeting (OPEX and CAPEX) and lifecycle cost optimisation.
• Ability to mentor and develop engineering teams and promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
• Track record of managing vendors, contractors, and service‑level agreements.
• Strategic mindset to align engineering initiatives with business goals.
