Electrical Design Engineer – Healthcare/Hospital Projects

About the role

WSP is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the electrical design of healthcare and hospital projects. You will be responsible for delivering cost‑effective, compliant solutions from concept through construction, working with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Design, coordinate and integrate electrical systems for building projects from design through tender preparation to project administration.
• Lead the design process, promoting innovative and cost‑effective solutions.
• Coordinate project documentation, including drawings and specifications, and review team inputs.
• Conduct site inspections, coordinate activities and attend meetings for assigned projects.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors and authorities to ensure design intent, code compliance and smooth execution.
• Identify and manage risks, ensuring adherence to commercial and contractual processes.
• Monitor delegated tasks, flag resource concerns and identify additional fee opportunities.
• Provide technical support by reviewing and approving RFIs, shop drawings and other technical documents, and represent WSP during testing and commissioning.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of engineering design experience with strong knowledge of electrical systems.
• Prior consulting experience, especially in healthcare facilities, is advantageous.
• Familiarity with healthcare‑related guidelines and codes.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electrical codes such as NFPA 99, IEC 60364-7-710, NEC Article 517.
• Experience applying healthcare electrical requirements and coordinating with local and international regulations.
• Competence in engineering software: AutoCAD, Bluebeam, ETAP, SKM, PowerCad, AGI32.
