Design Engineer – Structures

About the role

WSP is looking for a Design Engineer specialized in structures to join its multidisciplinary team. You will work under the supervision of senior engineers, translating project briefs into safe, code‑compliant designs for residential, commercial and institutional buildings.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret project briefs, raise technical queries and ensure design information is complete.
• Prepare design calculations, structural details, sketches and CAD drawings in line with relevant codes and standards.
• Produce and review shop drawings, perform quality checks and incorporate comments from design checkers.
• Coordinate technical documents, attend project meetings and support the Project Manager as required.
• Conduct site inspections and apply safety‑in‑design principles.
• Continuously improve design processes using standardized calculation systems.

Required profile

• Registered Civil Engineer with a minimum of 4 years of experience in multi‑level residential, commercial or institutional projects.
• Proven experience with reinforced and post‑tensioned concrete as well as structural steelwork.
• Familiarity with Australian Standards is a plus.
• Strong English communication skills and proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office.
