Smart Grid and R&D Manager

About the role

The Smart Grid and R&D Manager will lead the strategic modernization of Aboitiz Power’s distribution network. This role oversees the integration of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) and other smart‑grid projects while driving research and development initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate technical working groups and focus groups to shape smart‑grid policies and pilot programs.
• Direct the rollout and integration of AMI, ADMS, SCADA, DMS and OMS modules, ensuring seamless data flow.
• Apply project‑management principles to deploy new smart‑grid infrastructure and software.
• Interpret grid data to generate business insights and mitigate strategic risks such as cybersecurity threats.
• Develop governance documents for experimental technologies and manage R&D projects.
• Formulate and update the roadmap for distribution automation, including FLISR and DERMS applications.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading smart‑grid and R&D initiatives in the power or utilities sector.
• Strong technical background in grid automation and digital transformation.
• Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and drive innovation.
