Second Engineer (SF) – Technical Operations

About the role

Maersk Philippines Crewing is seeking a competent Second Engineer to join the engine department of its technically advanced container vessels. The role involves ensuring safe and reliable vessel operation while supporting personal development and career advancement.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure safe and reliable operation of the vessel, leveraging knowledge and experience of officers.
• Maintain all machinery in the engine room and on deck as required by the Preventive Maintenance System (PMS) and under the direction of the Chief Engineer.
• Instruct and supervise crew in the use of safety, environmental protection, firefighting and lifesaving equipment.
• Prepare and monitor work plans for other engineers and engine ratings.
• Conduct briefings and debriefings to promote efficient teamwork.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 months sea‑time in the rank of Second Engineer.
• At least one contract as Senior Engineer with UMS and experience on engines of 20,000 BHP or similar.

Required skills

• Engine operation and maintenance.
• Knowledge of Preventive Maintenance Systems (PMS).
• Ability to supervise and train crew on safety and emergency equipment.
