About the role
Maersk Filipinas Crewing Inc. is seeking an Ordinary Seaman to join the deck department on its advanced container vessels. The role involves supporting vessel operations, maintenance, and safety duties while gaining experience on one of the world’s largest container shipping lines.
Key responsibilities
- Perform surface maintenance and painting tasks on deck.
- Use maintenance and power tools safely and effectively.
- Carry out lookout duties and monitor vessel surroundings.
Required profile
- Minimum 12 months sea service experience on deck of foreign‑going ships.
- Working knowledge of spoken English.
- Basic understanding of ISM, ISPS, and security duties.
- Familiarity with PPE, emergency procedures (fire, abandon ship, man overboard, oil spill), and safety reporting.
Required skills
- Surface maintenance and painting.
- Operation of maintenance and power tools.
- Lookout duties.
- Knowledge of ISM and ISPS standards.
- Use of personal protective equipment.
- Emergency response procedures.
