Part-Time Food Assistant – Retail Store

About the role

As a Food Assistant you will create a welcoming atmosphere in the IKEA store food area, encouraging visitors to stay longer, enjoy tasty offerings and leave with a smile. This part‑time position focuses on delivering excellent customer service while supporting sales and store operations.

Key responsibilities

• Engage customers with friendly, IKEA‑aligned service and promote food offers.
• Maintain product knowledge, including origins, benefits and top‑selling items.
• Support range changes, prepare the area for sales events and contribute to the department’s action plan.
• Monitor local competition and provide input on pricing and assortment.
• Follow internal policies, operational routines and Functional Commercial Review standards.

Required profile

• Sales‑driven and passionate about food and people.
• Experience in food retail or hospitality and willingness to learn new skills.
• Service‑oriented with a strong customer focus.
• Flexible, adaptable and able to work varied hours based on store needs.
• Confident in approaching and conversing with customers.
• Initiative‑taking with good attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
