Director of Engineering

About the role

The Director of Engineering oversees the maintenance and operation of all hotel facilities, ensuring that building systems, guest rooms, and public areas are safe and fully functional.

Key responsibilities

• Check that construction, renovation and improvement projects are carried out according to plan and standards.
• Conduct facility walkthroughs, identify concerns and implement corrective actions.
• Oversee maintenance of all hotel systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, life safety and building automation.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal safety regulations.
• Develop and manage the engineering department budget and control maintenance and utility costs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management or related field (preferred).
• Registered Mechanical or Electrical Engineer.
• 8‑15 years of engineering or facilities experience in a hotel or hospitality environment.
• Previous supervisory or management experience.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and mechanical building systems.
• Experience with preventive maintenance systems (CMMS).
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics and technical manuals.
