Virtual Physician Clinical Support Provider

About the role

We are looking for a highly professional Virtual Physician Clinical Support Provider to manage patient result communications for a busy outpatient practice. Working remotely as an extension of the on‑site medical team, you will ensure patients receive their lab, imaging, and diagnostic results promptly and with clear clinical guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Review provider‑assigned labs, imaging, and diagnostic tasks routed to an AthenaHealth inbox.
• Contact patients by phone to explain results, answer questions, and provide clinical guidance.
• Educate patients using simple language while staying within your clinical scope.
• Perform basic clinical triage, flagging high‑risk findings and escalating to on‑site physicians.
• Document all communications and close result tasks in AthenaHealth.
• Post approved results and provider commentary to secure patient portals.
• Maintain an organized digital workflow to ensure rapid turnaround of patient communications.
• Collaborate with remote providers, medical assistants, and administrative staff while adhering to HIPAA and practice protocols.

Required profile

• Active Medical Doctor (MD) license preferred; experienced Nurse Practitioners (NP) also considered.
• Flawless verbal and written English with a neutral, professional phone voice.
• Strong clinical judgment and ability to explain complex findings clearly.
• Commitment to HIPAA compliance and accurate documentation.
