Senior Accountant – Remote (US Startup)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our growing remote finance team supporting a US‑based startup. The role is fully remote from the Philippines and operates in US time zones, allowing you to own end‑to‑end accounting processes and collaborate cross‑functionally with sales, operations, and other departments.

Key responsibilities

• Own daily invoicing workflows, review and process orders for accuracy.
• Prepare and maintain monthly reconciliation reports and balance‑sheet account reconciliations.
• Reconcile P&L statements and ensure general‑ledger accuracy on a regular cadence.
• Classify credit‑card transactions, match payments, and manage expense categorisation.
• Prepare and manage vendor bills, supporting timely payments.
• Assist payroll processing and commission calculations via Gusto.
• Support 1099 preparation, vendor compliance, and contractor documentation.
• Process vendor Certificate of Insurance (COI) requests and verify key fields.
• Provide ad‑hoc financial reporting and analysis for the Accounting Manager.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a Staff Accountant or similar role.
• Demonstrated stability and tenure in previous positions.
• Hands‑on experience supporting US‑based clients, familiarity with US GAAP and fiscal calendars.
• Experience with US payroll processes (W‑2, garnishments, benefits) and 1099‑NEC filing.

Required skills

• QuickBooks Online (QBO) for invoicing, billing, reconciliation and reporting.
• Katana purchase‑order management and vendor cross‑referencing.
• Gusto payroll and commission processing.
• Notion for sales tracking and team documentation.
• Swiftlane portal invoicing workflows.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets (formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
