Real Estate Accountant – Full‑Cycle Accounting

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a detail‑oriented accountant with real‑estate experience to join its growing back‑office team. You will work remotely with a talented group of professionals, delivering accurate financial reporting and supporting multiple high‑growth clients.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle accounting for several clients, including AP/AR, bank and credit‑card reconciliations, and month‑end close.
• Prepare, review and analyze monthly financial statements, management reports, budgets and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and relevant regulations, addressing discrepancies proactively.
• Perform job costing, project accounting and budget‑to‑actual analysis as required.
• Support tax compliance by preparing documentation, coordinating with external tax advisors and assisting audit requests.
• Build strong relationships with client stakeholders and internal teams, offering insights to improve financial operations.
• Identify and implement process improvements and internal controls to boost accuracy and scalability.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, specifically in the real‑estate sector.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and U.S. GAAP.
• Fluent English (B2+), able to communicate with high‑profile clients.
• Adaptable, detail‑oriented and comfortable in a fast‑paced, growth‑focused environment.
• Available to work 9 AM–5 PM EST, Monday to Friday, as an independent contractor.
