Legal and Compliance Head

About the role

The Legal and Compliance Head will lead the organization’s legal, regulatory and compliance functions, ensuring strict adherence to Philippine insurance laws, AMLA, data‑privacy rules and corporate governance standards. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, this senior position supports business initiatives while safeguarding the company’s interests.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Legal and Compliance function, aligning it with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Provide legal advice on corporate, commercial, labor and insurance matters to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with Insurance Commission regulations, AMLA, data‑privacy laws and internal policies.
• Oversee drafting, review and negotiation of contracts, agreements and other legal documents.
• Manage regulatory filings, coordinate with government agencies and external counsel.
• Develop and strengthen compliance frameworks, policies and governance practices.
• Identify legal and regulatory risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Lead internal investigations, compliance reviews and risk assessments.
• Support business units on product launches, partnerships and operational matters.
• Deliver compliance training and promote an ethical culture.

Required profile

• Licensed attorney (LLB or JD) with at least 10 years of legal and compliance experience, preferably in life or non‑life insurance.
• Strong knowledge of insurance regulations, corporate governance, AMLA and data‑privacy requirements.
• Proven experience dealing with the Insurance Commission and other regulatory bodies.
• Demonstrated leadership of legal and compliance teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation and communication skills.
• Analytical, problem‑solving and risk‑management capabilities.
• Experience in multinational or highly regulated financial services is an advantage.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, evolving regulatory environment.
