About the role

We are looking for an in‑house Controller to own the accounting function end‑to‑end for a high‑growth, woman‑owned social enterprise. Reporting directly to the CEO and partnering with a fractional CFO, you will ensure the accuracy of the company’s financials and build lasting, clean accounting systems.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle accounting, delivering month‑end close in under 10 days and preparing financial statements with variance commentary.
• Oversee complex revenue recognition and deferred revenue for subscriptions, gift cards, platform credits, and enterprise pre‑payments.
• Handle accounts receivable/payable, payroll coordination, sales‑tax compliance, and reconciliations across a hybrid inventory model.
• Collaborate on “Cause Partner” liability accounting to track charitable impact separate from standard AP.
• Develop product‑line P&L and customer profitability reports for key accounts.
• Create and maintain SOPs, close checklists, and a comprehensive chart of accounts.
• Lead coordination with external CPAs for tax compliance and maintain documentation for B‑Corp and LLC partnership requirements.

Required profile

• 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience (exceptional candidates with 5+ years and heavy deferred‑revenue exposure considered).
• Deep expertise in deferred revenue and multi‑channel revenue recognition (subscriptions, e‑commerce, B2B).
• Proven experience in product‑based industries with complex inventory management.
• Ability to produce actuals‑based profitability and driver‑based management reports.
• Active CPA license or international equivalent.
