About the role
The Compliance Officer for Data Privacy supports the Assistant Director of the University Data Protection Office (UDPO) in managing privacy compliance, handling incidents, and resolving complaints across the university. The role also involves research, capacity‑building activities, and general office support.
Key responsibilities
- Register university data‑processing systems with the National Privacy Commission (NPC) and notify the agency of any automated decision‑making systems.
- Monitor data‑protection concerns of university offices, coordinate compliance checks, investigations and stakeholder engagements.
- Organise preparatory and consultative meetings, arrange venues, catering and guest logistics.
- Prepare Security Incident Response Team assessment reports and coordinate responses to data‑privacy incidents and complaints.
- Draft responses to common data‑protection inquiries and review data‑sharing, subcontracting and outsourcing agreements.
- Research policy questions, analyse news on data‑protection issues, and provide advisory input.
- Serve as a speaker in trainings and workshops, and develop educational materials on data protection.
- Attend meetings, conferences and hearings on behalf of the office and produce minutes, progress and post‑activity reports.
Required profile
- Works under the supervision of the Assistant Director, UDPO.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on data‑privacy matters.
