YouTube Thumbnail Designer (Remote)

About the role

Greenhorn Creative is a remote YouTube creative agency that partners with experts and thought leaders to build high‑performing educational channels. We are seeking a YouTube Thumbnail Designer who can turn concepts into clickable, emotionally resonant images that drive audience growth.

Key responsibilities

• Design high‑performing thumbnails for educational, expert‑led, and talking‑head videos.
• Create multiple concepts per video that are clear, compelling, and aligned with brand guidelines.
• Apply visual hierarchy, contrast, facial expression, composition, colour, and typography to maximise click‑through rates.
• Research competitor channels, trends, and proven thumbnail formats.
• Collaborate with editors, project managers, and the broader creative team.
• Incorporate feedback quickly while preserving the core idea.
• Help evolve thumbnail templates, systems, and creative standards.

Required profile

• Mid‑to‑senior level experience designing YouTube thumbnails.
• Strong portfolio showcasing successful thumbnail work.
• Deep understanding of YouTube packaging and what drives clicks.
• Ability to work quickly without sacrificing quality.
• Excellent attention to detail and ownership of deliverables.

Required skills

• Adobe Photoshop
• Canva
• Figma
• AI image generation tools (e.g., Midjourney, DALL·E)
• Photo manipulation, retouching and compositing
