Web Engineer – Front-End Development

About the role

As a Web Engineer you will work in an agile environment alongside engineers, product owners and other stakeholders to build, maintain and enhance web‑based banking solutions for ING. You will help deliver reliable, accessible and engaging digital experiences while contributing to engineering standards and best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high‑quality web applications and banking features.
• Write clean, scalable and maintainable code that meets business requirements.
• Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices.
• Own systems and services running in production, identifying opportunities to reduce technical debt and improve performance.
• Collaborate with engineers, product owners and stakeholders across the organization.
• Support continuous improvement of development standards, tooling and processes.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of software development experience, including at least 2 years in front‑end development.
• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and REST APIs.
• Experience with modern web frameworks (Lit, React, Vue, Angular, Svelte or similar).
• Understanding of modern front‑end architecture and Micro‑Frontend concepts.
• Familiarity with Web Components, Open‑WC, Rollup and Storybook.
• Knowledge of accessibility standards and inclusive web development practices.
• Experience with testing tools such as Jest, Karma, Cypress, Web Test Runner and Postman.
• Proficiency with Git, complex branching workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong communication skills in English and experience working in Agile, Scrum or Kanban environments.
