About the role
The Utilities Board of the City of Andalusia seeks a dedicated Water/Sewer Construction and Maintenance Worker II to join its team. Working under the direction of the Construction Foreman or Crew Leader, you will perform manual and semi‑skilled tasks to keep the city’s water distribution and sewer collection systems operating safely and efficiently.
Key responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain water and sewer pipelines, wells, and related infrastructure.
- Flush fire hydrants, operate hand tools, and conduct road and trench work.
- Clean, construct, and repair sanitary sewer lines and water mains.
- Operate water and sewer equipment in compliance with industry standards.
- Provide on‑site direction to unskilled workers during maintenance activities.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Alabama driver’s license; ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License.
- Ability to obtain a Grade 1 C Wastewater Certification within 1 year and a Grade II Operations Certification within 2 years, or at least 5 years of relevant water/sewer experience.
Required skills
- Operation of hand tools for construction and maintenance.
- Maintenance and repair of water distribution and sewer collection systems.
- Driving skills for field work, including potential CDL operation.
