Trust Legal Officer

About the role

The Trust Legal Officer provides immediate and competent legal services to support RCBC Trust's trust, investment management and fiduciary businesses. This role ensures regulatory compliance, manages documentation risk, and handles litigation matters specific to the corporation.

Key responsibilities

• Review applicable laws and regulations and explain their impact on trust, investment management and fiduciary operations.
• Coordinate with the Head of Legal Affairs to implement and monitor compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in drafting and revising legal policies, procedures, and standard agreements for trust products.
• Prepare, review, and negotiate legal documents throughout account opening, administration, and termination, including loan and collateral agreements.
• Conduct legal and regulatory research, provide opinions on tax matters, and recommend resolutions for client and regulatory issues.
• Liaise with government regulatory agencies and prepare applications to the BIR and Revenue District Office for tax exemptions and registrations.
• Draft pleadings, attend hearings before courts and quasi‑judicial bodies, and manage case filings for RCBC Trust.
• Monitor and respond to garnishment notices, freeze orders, and other court directives.

Required profile

• Experience providing legal support for trust, investment management and fiduciary services.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, tax law and litigation procedures.
• Proven ability to draft, review and negotiate complex legal documents and agreements.
• Experience liaising with government regulatory agencies and preparing statutory filings.
• Capability to attend hearings and represent the organization before courts and quasi‑judicial bodies.
