Tech Specialist – Retail Platforms & IoT

About the role

The Software Support Engineer provides technical support and investigation for NCR Voyix retail solutions, focusing on IoT‑enabled store systems, Windows/Linux hybrid environments, and POS device interaction.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate high‑severity incidents across POS, self‑checkout, platform services, and device layers.
• Analyze logs, diagnostics, API interactions, CTM traces and OS telemetry to identify root causes.
• Reproduce issues in controlled environments, provide work‑arounds and remediation recommendations.
• Support IoT edge systems, maintain communication between in‑store devices, CTM, platform services and cloud applications.
• Troubleshoot OPOS and JavaPOS integrations for peripherals such as scanners, printers, cash drawers, scales and payment devices.
• Own incidents through resolution or formal engineering hand‑off and collaborate with Engineering, DevOps, Product and platform teams.

Required profile

• 2‑4+ years of experience in technical, software or production support.
• Experience supporting enterprise retail, POS or distributed systems.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

Required skills

• IoT, CTM, OPOS, JavaPOS (JPOS), WSL, Windows, Linux.
• POS hardware and peripheral device knowledge.
• Log analysis, diagnostics and telemetry interpretation.
• Familiarity with MQTT messaging, cloud‑native/microservices architectures, Kubernetes or containerised edge platforms.
• Basic coding exposure in C# or Java.
