Tax Accountant – Australian Public Practice (Remote)

About the role

ConnectOS is seeking a qualified Tax Accountant with at least three years of experience in an Australian public‑practice accounting firm. The role is fully remote and focuses on preparing and lodging tax returns, BAS, and financial statements for a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare individual and business income tax returns for sole traders, companies, trusts and SMSFs.
• Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) and GST returns.
• Draft financial statements for various entity types as required.
• Perform routine bookkeeping tasks including bank reconciliations and general ledger maintenance in Xero.
• Support corporate secretarial duties using corporate‑registry software (e.g., CAS).
• Administer Self‑Managed Super Funds (SMSFs) using appropriate software such as BGL.
• Provide daily administrative assistance and liaise with clients to gather information and meet compliance deadlines.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of experience in an Australian public‑practice accounting firm.
• Hands‑on experience with tax returns for sole traders, companies, trusts and SMSFs.
• Familiarity with BAS, IAS and financial statement preparation.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet strict filing deadlines.

• Xero Practice Manager

• SMSF administration software (BGL or equivalent)
