Strategic Sourcing Buyer

About the role

The Strategic Sourcing Buyer will support the procurement function for aerospace and defense programs, driving cost‑effective sourcing strategies and ensuring supplier readiness for production. This hybrid position works closely with tactical and design teams to align commodity strategies with business goals.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate with tactical counterparts and feed supplier insights into commodity strategy.
• Execute commodity strategies, manage RFQs, and resolve pricing disputes.
• Maintain price books, monitor cost variances, and analyze demand to set optimal order quantities.
• Review supplier performance, develop improvement plans, and ensure rate‑ready status.
• Identify and implement cost‑reduction initiatives, including weight and cost optimization.
• Support design activities and collaborate with the Tactical Procurement team.
• Assess supply‑chain risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Participate in EHS practices and safety reporting.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Management or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in sourcing, supplier management, and cost‑saving initiatives.
• Proven track record in a global purchasing environment.
• Experience with Materials Management, MRP and ERP systems.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and no disciplinary actions in the past year.
• At least one year in the current position.
