Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

Chevron, which markets Caltex fuels, lubricants and petroleum products in the Philippines, is hiring a Site Reliability Engineer based in 6750 Building, Makati City. The role covers incident prevention, on-call support for critical incidents, and helping product teams improve their site reliability maturity.

Key responsibilities

• Use full-stack knowledge to prevent incidents by baselining service performance, applying lessons learned and using data analytics to spot operational gaps.
• Lead agile teams in troubleshooting and resolving system problems, including application and critical system performance analysis.
• Provide on-call operational support and act as a technical resource during P1 and major incidents across multiple technologies.
• Facilitate SRE technical assessments, identify gaps and recommend SRE maturity plans based on Chevron's SRE framework.
• Improve logging and create automated resolutions and automation scripts to reduce toil.
• Monitor production environments for availability and maintain a holistic view of system health.
• Measure and optimize system performance and build relationships with peers, leadership and users on DevOps and SRE best practices.

Required profile

• Hands-on IT experience with a CS or MIS degree or equivalent.
• Analytical, troubleshooting and RCA or postmortem skills, and knowledge of ITSM, especially Incident Management.
• Strong facilitation skills and the ability to explain complex topics simply to non-technical audiences.
• Preferred: T-shaped full-stack infrastructure and software engineering skills, and preferred certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-204, AZ-400, CCNA, PCNSA or CISSP.

Required skills

• On-prem and cloud architecture, Azure, Windows and Linux, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, change management, API integration and process automation.
• Preferred: KQL, CI/CD pipelines with Ansible, PowerShell and shell scripting, and Agile (SAFe) PI Planning, value stream mapping and Scrum.
