Shift‑Leading Barista

About the role

Join Switch Bakery as a shift‑leading barista, responsible for preparing high‑quality espresso, coffee, and specialty food while guiding barbacks during busy periods. You will deliver polished front‑of‑house service and help create a welcoming experience for every guest.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and execute high‑quality espresso, coffee, and specialty food service, mastering recipes, sizing, and plating.
• Provide professional front‑of‑house interaction, sharing the story behind the coffee, bakery ethos, and ingredients.
• Take orders, manage register transactions (card and cash), send orders to the kitchen, and handle custom requests.
• Maintain high energy, professionalism, and accuracy throughout the shift.
• Guide barbacks and baking assistants during high‑volume periods to ensure consistent service quality.
• Keep the bar clean, well‑stocked, and organized while multitasking efficiently.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of barista experience.
• Comfortable with repeated standing and lifting up to 40 lb during peak periods.
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow direction from the person in charge.
• Reliable availability for at least three shifts per week.
• California Food Handlers Certificate or willingness to obtain it within 30 days of hire.
• Proactive attitude, openness to coaching, and willingness to learn new skills.
