Senior Tax Accountant – US Tax, Remote (Full‑time Contractor)

About the role

We are a growing CPA firm seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to work remotely on a full‑time independent contractor basis. You will independently review complex tax returns, identify issues before filing, and provide expert guidance on federal and California tax matters for individuals, businesses, and fiduciary entities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review U.S. tax returns including Form 1040, 1065, 1120S, 1120, and 1041.
• Review staff‑prepared returns for accuracy, completeness, and tax‑saving opportunities.
• Research federal and California tax issues and apply findings to client engagements.
• Develop tax projections and support proactive tax‑planning strategies.
• Respond to IRS and state tax notices and communicate resolutions to clients.
• Manage workflow and deadlines using Lacerte Tax Software and Canopy Practice Management Software.
• Identify process improvements and maintain high‑quality standards across engagements.
• Stay current on evolving tax laws and compliance requirements.

Required profile

• 5+ years of U.S. public accounting tax experience.
• Strong technical expertise in individual, partnership, corporate, and fiduciary taxation.
• Experience reviewing complex returns and resolving tax notices.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly with clients.
