Senior Resident Engineer - Earthfill Dam

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Resident Engineer to lead the geotechnical and earthworks supervision of a major earth‑fill dam project in the Philippines. This expatriate assignment involves overseeing a 50 m high dam with a 15 million m³ storage capacity, built under an EPC contract in a tropical, high‑rainfall environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage Assistant Resident Engineers, inspectors, and quality personnel.
• Provide technical leadership for the construction of the embankment dam and associated hydraulic structures.
• Direct Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) activities and ensure compliance with specifications and contractual requirements.
• Review and recommend approval of method statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), temporary works, earthworks placement and compaction procedures, geosynthetic installation, foundation treatment, and dewatering plans.
• Monitor contractor performance, safety, quality, and progress on site.
• Resolve technical issues in collaboration with designers and specialist consultants.
• Prepare technical reports, recommendations, and support a safety‑focused project culture.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil Engineering (post‑graduate qualification in Geotechnical Engineering preferred).
• Professional Engineer registration or equivalent.
• Minimum 20 years of experience in civil and geotechnical engineering.
• Proven experience in construction supervision and Construction Quality Assurance.
• Strong knowledge of embankment construction, moisture conditioning, compaction control, and geotechnical instrumentation.
