Senior Manual QA Tester / Software Test Analyst

About the role

A leading SaaS payroll processing and rights management business is hiring a Senior Manual QA Tester / Software Test Analyst. The position is remote and must be filled by someone residing in the Philippines, working full-time during Australian Eastern Standard Time business hours. It reports to the Software Development Manager and starts on a probationary basis, becoming regular after 6 months.

Key responsibilities

• Define test strategy, execution approaches and coverage models for web-based SaaS applications.
• Perform functional, regression and pre-release testing to ensure application integrity.
• Use browser DevTools (Elements, Console, Network) and virtual environments such as BrowserStack for root-cause analysis and diagnostics.
• Identify, log, track and retest defects in Jira and test management tools such as TestRail.
• Work with engineering leads, business analysts and product managers to influence release decisions and quality standards.
• Scope and estimate QA effort for sprint planning and upcoming features.
• Help improve QA processes and prepare for future test automation and AI-driven testing.
• Mentor and support team members.

Required profile

• 7+ years of experience in software quality assurance or test analyst roles.
• In-depth understanding of the SDLC and hands-on Agile experience.
• Strong web diagnostics and root-cause analysis skills.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote, multi-disciplinary team.
• Excellent verbal and written English.
• Preferred: tertiary qualification in Computer Science, IT or a related field, and prior experience in SaaS, payroll or complex financial workflow platforms.

Required skills

• HTML, CSS, JavaScript and HTTP protocols.
• Familiarity with modern front-end frameworks such as Angular v17.
• Jira, Confluence, TestRail and BrowserStack.
• Working knowledge of SQL or Azure SQL; awareness of CI/CD concepts such as Azure DevOps.
