Senior Java Engineer - Payment Platform (OMaaP)

About the role

ING Hubs Philippines is hiring a Java Engineer to join the Order Manager (OMaaP) platform, the central orchestration engine for payment orders across the Payment & Settlement Services landscape. The role combines development and quality engineering, with a focus on secure, scalable, high-availability payment flows. The team works as an Agile DevOps squad.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build backend microservices and APIs with Java 21, Spring Boot, REST and JAX-RS, and lead complex feature design and architecture.
• Implement secure, scalable, highly available solutions and apply secure programming practices against OWASP risks.
• Review code and collaborate with Product Owners and architects on end-to-end solutions.
• Build automated unit, integration, component and API tests with JUnit, Karate and Cucumber, and integrate them into CI/CD pipelines.
• Run functional, integration and performance validation, define test strategies and drive root-cause analysis.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps, Git and Maven, support deployments, and use Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTracing and ELK for monitoring and logging.
• Participate in incident analysis and mentor engineers on clean code, architecture and testing.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
• 3-7+ years of Java engineering experience building distributed backend systems.
• Strong experience in automated testing and CI/CD.
• Preferred: payment domain expertise (PSD2, SEPA, instant payments), event-driven architectures (Kafka), performance engineering background, and experience leading technical initiatives.
