Senior Accountant (Accounts Receivable)

About the role

The Senior Accountant (Accounts Receivable) will support SMEC branches, subsidiaries and the SJ Group with day‑to‑day finance and administrative tasks, focusing on receivable transactions, debtor management, reconciliation and reporting. The role works closely with the Finance Team Lead to implement global shared‑services processes.

Key responsibilities

• Generate and issue invoices, statements and reminder letters in both softcopy and hardcopy formats.
• Validate customer payments against outstanding invoices and handle on‑account and partial payments.
• Investigate and resolve A/R inquiries, including billing, receipting, statements and reminder correspondence.
• Review billing data from regional teams before invoice creation and ensure accuracy of invoices, credit notes and client statements.
• Meet SLA‑agreed processing timeframes and escalate potential deadline pressures.
• Monitor volume spikes or concerns affecting team deliverables and update A/R process documentation.
• Act as Officer‑In‑Charge of A/R in the Finance Team Lead’s absence and identify/implement process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related field.
• More than 5 years of solid finance/accounting experience.
• Experience in a BPO/shared‑service environment with a focus on A/R/Revenue.
• Experience in a multinational shared‑service setting.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and demonstrate leadership potential.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multicultural environment.

Required skills

• SAP (minimum 5 years of relevant experience).
• Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software.
• Financial reporting software.
