Remote Bookkeeper (Billing & Accounts Receivable)
SKUTOPIA
Job description
About the role
SKUTOPIA, a deep-tech logistics company delivering AI-powered robotic fulfilment for retailers, is looking for a remote bookkeeper to run its end-to-end billing and accounts receivable processes. The company is still maturing its finance operations, so the role offers the chance to identify process improvements and work with other teams as the business grows. It sits at the intersection of finance, customer relationships and cash flow.
Key responsibilities
- Generate, issue and track invoices to merchants and customers according to agreed schedules, pricing plans and service usage.
- Maintain billing accuracy by checking that billed amounts match contracts, usage, price plans and discounts.
- Monitor accounts receivable ledgers and aging reports, and follow up on overdue invoices.
- Resolve slow or withheld payments caused by billing issues, disputes or inaccuracies, working with Customer Success and Finance.
- Reconcile ledger entries, payments received, invoice adjustments, credits and refunds with the general ledger.
- Assist with month-end close for accounts receivable, including summaries, reports and supporting documentation.
- Maintain and improve billing and AR documentation and templates, proposing improvements to reduce errors and delays.
- Support ad-hoc finance, billing and AR projects such as integrating new merchants or billing modules.
- Work with Customer Success, Sales, Finance and Operations so billing reflects service changes and contract amendments.
- Provide regular reports on outstanding AR, billing error rate, average days to payment and dispute resolution status.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field preferred.
- CA or CPA qualified, or actively pursuing the qualification.
- At least 5 years of experience in accounts receivable, billing or finance operations, preferably in a high-volume environment.
- Detail-oriented, organised self-starter with strong ownership and problem-solving skills, able to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong communication skills with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Willingness to work Australian time-zone hours or overlap with a Sydney-based finance team.
Required skills
- Strong proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel or Google Sheets), including formulas, pivot tables and large datasets.
- Proactive approach to continuous improvement and willingness to learn new finance systems, ERP tools and AI-enabled technologies.
The application process includes an initial meeting, a skills-based task and a final interview. Apply with a resume and cover letter.
