Project Inspector Engineer – Tunnels

About the role

The Project Inspector Engineer – Tunnels will provide on‑site inspection and technical oversight of tunnel construction activities for the Owner’s Engineer. You will ensure that all works comply with approved designs, specifications, quality standards, safety regulations and contractual obligations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform regular on‑site inspections of tunnelling works and verify compliance with drawings, specifications and quality standards.
• Use checklists and quality plans to identify deviations early and track progress against the construction schedule.
• Maintain daily site diaries, photograph key milestones and prepare detailed progress reports for the Owner’s Engineer and client.
• Engage with contractors, consultants and project team members to exchange technical information, clarify site issues and coordinate activities.
• Participate in site meetings, review contractor method statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), material approvals and other technical documents.

Required profile

• Proven experience in tunnel construction activities such as excavation, support systems and waterproofing.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct inspections, identify non‑conformances and support quality‑assurance processes.
• Experience collaborating with contractors or engineers to resolve technical and quality issues.
• Knowledge of ground behaviour, geotechnical monitoring and specialised tunnelling techniques.
• Familiarity with local and international tunnelling codes and standards.
