Open Systems Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Open Systems Engineer to design, deploy, and maintain robust Unix/Linux infrastructures. The role emphasizes performance, security, and high availability while supporting on‑premises environments and collaborating closely with IT and infrastructure teams.

Key responsibilities

• Provide Level 1 and Level 2 on‑call support for Unix/Linux systems, responding quickly to incidents and service requests.
• Manage system issues, apply security patches, and perform upgrades to ensure compliance and reliability.
• Schedule, coordinate, and implement system changes following Change Management policies.
• Provision new server builds and configurations according to organizational standards.
• Execute capacity planning for storage, CPU, and memory to meet business growth.
• Monitor system performance, proactively address potential issues, and apply tuning recommendations.
• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of Unix/Linux server administration experience, especially with RHEL 7+ and Solaris.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities in high‑pressure environments.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Relevant certifications such as Red Hat Certified Engineer; cloud certifications are a plus.

• Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 7 and later.
• Solaris operating system.
• VMware ESX virtualization.
• Solaris virtualization technologies (LDOMs, Zones).
• Scripting with Bash, Python, and Perl.
• Automation with Ansible and YAML.
• Networking concepts, SAN and NAS storage.
• Configuration management, system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
