Node.js Software Engineer (Remote Contractor)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced software engineer to help train and evaluate next‑generation AI systems by tackling real‑world engineering tasks. This remote, part‑time contract position is ideal for developers who can quickly understand unfamiliar codebases, articulate technical decisions, and solve backend, full‑stack, or infrastructure challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Work on diverse engineering problems across backend, full‑stack, infrastructure, and systems projects.
• Review, debug, improve, and clearly explain code in various technical environments.
• Design or evaluate solutions involving APIs, databases, services, integrations, testing, and deployment workflows.
• Identify trade‑offs related to scalability, maintainability, performance, reliability, security, and developer experience.
• Document technical reasoning in writing, outlining why solutions work and alternative options.
• Collaborate with the client’s team on technical reviews, implementation decisions, and problem‑solving exercises.
• Adapt rapidly to new codebases, frameworks, and requirements.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on software engineering experience.
• Strong experience in at least one backend or full‑stack environment (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java, C#, Go, etc.).
• Proven ability to build, maintain, or review production‑level applications, APIs, services, or integrations.
• Excellent written communication skills for explaining complex engineering decisions.
