Mechanical Solutions Engineer

About the role

The Mechanical Solutions Engineer will act as the regional technical lead within the Advanced Competitiveness Engineering (ACE) function. Reporting to the Mechanical Solutions Head, the role supports IMI sites during RFQ and product development, ensuring cost‑effective designs and on‑time delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the primary technical contact for mechanical solutions across IMI sites, coordinating with regional ACE and cross‑functional teams.
• Provide technical expertise for custom mechanical parts during the RFQ process to achieve competitive pricing and timely completion.
• Create and validate 3D CAD models and mechanical simulations to deliver robust, cost‑efficient designs.
• Apply Design to Cost (DTC) and Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to identify cost drivers and optimise manufacturing processes.
• Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and qualification of custom‑tooled components to ensure quality and compliance.
• Develop and manage mechanical suppliers, enhancing their technical performance and capability.
• Oversee prototype development and the design of front‑line and back‑end mechanical processes and fixtures.
• Contribute to the continuous evolution and implementation of the mechanical solutions engineering roadmap.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience is an advantage.
• Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with training in problem‑solving and decision‑making.
