Manager, General Accounting Operations

About the role

The General Accounting Operations Manager leads the General Ledger team, providing strategic leadership and tactical management to ensure accurate period‑end closes, balance‑sheet reconciliations, and compliance with statutory and tax audits. The role blends vision for future team capabilities with hands‑on problem solving and process transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Strategic leadership (≈10%): define three‑year talent roadmap, identify AI and hyper‑automation opportunities, and plan scope‑expansion projects.
• Tactical management (≈40%): engage stakeholders, translate expectations into action plans, handle escalations, and ensure timely resolution.
• Team management: full‑cycle people management from hiring to retirement, drive upskilling, maintain knowledge banks, and oversee backup and cross‑training arrangements.
• Operational accountability: period‑end closes, balance‑sheet reconciliations, group account queries, support audits, and achieve KPI targets such as clean books and zero audit failures.
• Process transformation: lead LEAN initiatives, identify productivity savings, and implement industry best practices.

Required profile

• CPA or CMA with 15+ years of general accounting experience in a multinational environment.
• Hands‑on experience with ERP systems, primarily SAP.
• Project management certification or experience is preferred.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity, influence without authority, and lead by example.
