Legal Officer

About the role

The Legal Officer will work full‑time on‑site in Metro Manila, providing comprehensive legal support to Archipelago Philippine Ferries Corp. (Fastcat). This role involves ensuring compliance with corporate, employment, and maritime regulations while safeguarding the company’s legal interests.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents.
• Research legal issues, prepare opinions, and advise internal stakeholders on corporate governance, employment, and maritime regulations.
• Coordinate with external counsel as needed.
• Assist in regulatory filings and documentation.
• Support the resolution of disputes or claims.
• Develop and implement company policies.
• Monitor legal risks and maintain organized records of legal documents and correspondence.

Required profile

• Relevant legal education (Bachelor of Laws/Juris Doctor) and bar admission in the Philippines.
• Experience in corporate, commercial, or maritime law, preferably within transportation, logistics, or related industries.
• Strong legal research, contract drafting, and document‑review abilities with high attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret and apply applicable laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex legal concepts to non‑legal stakeholders.
• Demonstrated integrity, sound judgment, and ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
• Strong organizational and time‑management skills to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency in standard office productivity tools (e.g., word processing, spreadsheets, document‑management systems).
• Willingness to work on‑site in Metro Manila and travel occasionally to ports or operational locations.
